Artistic Research into Modern Languages and Cultures

Online Conference

9 - 10 April 2021

How can the arts and artistic methods transform research, teaching and learning in Modern Languages and Cultures (MLC)? How can creative practices contribute to understanding languages, translation or to understanding cultures, and generate knowledge that might otherwise remain hidden? More and more artists and scholars are looking into these questions today. However, only few have so far tried to implement theories and practices of artistic research into their teaching and research.

Our conference “Artistic Research in Modern Languages & Cultures” held online from 9-10 April aims to change this, and we hope to initiate nothing short of an overall disciplinary renewal. The conference will bring together international researchers, practitioners and artists from a range of language backgrounds. We invite all participants to share their insights into and their experiences with the transformative power of creative practices in MLC in unconventional formats.
